An
SCC14, ITF bar code, has been the standard symbol when coding a box containing
products marked with the same UPC code. The standard
code is 6" long from end to end of bearer bars. The bearer bar helps the code hold its line
when printing to rough surfaces. This code is 14 digits long and
includes a modulo check
digit (the last number, the mod check character is found by doing
arithmetic to the first 13 characters).
The SCC14 is comprised of: the Product Indicator (or PI),
a single digit number that gives information about the level of packing.
A "0" PI references a mixed case, 1 is used to indicate a uniform pack
of the same item, 2 may mean a case within a case and so this indicator
is for levels of pack. The next series of numbers are the
Manufacturers license number, for U.S. companies using UPC symbols the
number is preceded by a "0" to match international standards. The
following numbers are most often referenced to the product code of the items contained within
the packaging. The last number is the mod check character
referenced above.
When you order your ITF bar code from us, you need to provide us with your
11 digit UPC number and the packaging scheme. We must be given the exact height and length
of the area your code must fit.
Note: It is important for the manufacturers to be consistent in their
shipping container coding methodology.
