An Interleave 2
of 5 (ITF Case Code) is used when coding a box containing UPC coded products. The standard
code is 6" long from end of bearer bars. The bearer bar helps the code hold its line
when printing to rough surfaces. This code is 14 digits long (including the mod check
digit).
The ITF is comprised of the product code of the items contained within a
case and two additional numbers preceding it. These two numbers, the Product Indicator (or
PI), will indicate the contents of the case being fixed or variable. If the UPC number
used on the outside of the case includes other products, then the PI will be
"00"...If the contents are singly packaged in the case, then the PI will be
"10". If the contents are packaged together in boxes, and these boxes are placed
within the case, the PI is "20". If those boxes are then placed within another
case and packaged together, the PI would be "30", etc.
When you order your ITF bar code from us, you need to provide us with your
11 digit UPC number and the packaging scheme. We must be given the exact height and length
of the area your code must fit.
Note: It is important for the manufacturers to be consistent in their
shipping container coding methodology.
