The
Uniform Code Council in Dayton, OH (800-543-8137), owns the UPC symbology. Contact them
for your license of a six digit control number. To these numbers you may add a five digit
product number that is used to identify individual products. You may choose your product
numbers in a way that best suits your record keeping needs.
When ordering your UPC bar code from us, please provide us with both your
six digit manufacturer's number and the five digit product identification number. We will
supply the 12th digit (also known as the modulo check digit, or mod check). This digit is
figured through a mathematical calculation based on the eleven numbers you have given us.
We have provided a file, in PC format, which you are free to download to your own personal
computer so you can identify individual mod check digits.
Below we have supplied examples for you to see the different sizes and
formats.
